LIFEM extends deadline for Young Ensemble Competition entries
The Next Name in Early Music Could Be Yours
The London International Festival of Early Music (LIFEM) has extended the application deadline for its 2026 Young Ensemble Competition, giving emerging performers until 30 June to enter.
Presented every other year, the competition champions outstanding Early Music ensembles with an average age of 35 or under, offering a valuable platform for young musicians ready to make their mark.
Now preparing for its 53rd festival, LIFEM remains one of the world’s most important celebrations of Early Music, bringing together leading performers, makers, publishers, students and enthusiasts from across the UK, Europe and beyond.
Selected finalists will perform live at Blackheath Halls on Friday, 13 November 2026 as part of the LIFEM 2026 festival, in front of an expert panel and festival audience. This year’s prizes are worth £3,000, comprising a First Prize (£1,500) and a recital at LIFEM 2027, a Second Prize (£1,000) and a Third Prize (£500), making this a significant opportunity for ambitious young ensembles looking for visibility, recognition and support.
The 2026 competition will be adjudicated by Erik Bosgraaf, Tomoe Badiarova and Jane Chapman. Apply by 30 June and take your place at LIFEM 2026.
