About

Salisbury Musick is a three day festival, celebrating early music. The inaugural festival will be held on October 3rd to 5th, 2025. In the eighteenth century, three day festivals of music were held annually in Salisbury to great acclaim. Like the eighteenth century festivals, Salisbury Musick brings together local musicians and visiting Baroque experts to provide a wonderful range of concerts, talks and educational opportunities for all ages. The festival takes its name from the list of subscribers to John Walsh’s 1739 first edition of Handel’s Opus 6.

James Harris, in 1744, wrote ‘And hence the genuine Charm of Music, and the Wonders which it works... it is a Force irresistible, and penetrates into the deepest Recesses of the Soul.’ This is exactly what we hope Salisbury Musick in the 21st century will bring.

Location

In and around Salisbury, predominantly in Salisbury Medieval Hall, the Salisbury Museum and St Thomas’s Church.
