About
What did music sound like in the Middle Ages, and how does it speak to us today?
Welcome to the inaugural Medieval London Music Festival. We are delighted to invite you to discover the rich and varied sound world of medieval music through performances in some of London’s most remarkable historic spaces.

At the heart of the festival is a simple idea: Medieval music in Medieval spaces. By bringing historically informed performances into buildings that have stood for centuries, we hope to offer new perspectives on this extraordinary repertoire, connecting the sounds of the past with the atmosphere and experience of listening today.

Alongside concerts, we’re also hoping to feature historical talks and guided walks exploring London’s rich Medieval heritage.
Our first festival takes place at the magnificent church of St Bartholomew the Great, founded in 1123 by Rahere, alongside the neighbouring hospital. With its remarkable architecture and nearly nine centuries of history, St Bart’s provides a fitting setting for this music that has travelled across the centuries to reach us.
