L'Olimpiade - Relaxed Performance

L’Olimpiade (The Olympiad) was set to music by over fifty composers, making it one of the most popular in opera history. Based on the story of the ‘Trial of the Suitors’ by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, it has all the materials necessary for a work of high drama – loyal friends, crossed lovers, secret backstories, and disguise…

This performance is a shortened version of our 2024 opera, which has been specially curated for those that would benefit from a more ‘relaxed’ experience. Everyone is welcome to attend, including families with babies or very young children and those with learning disabilities, neurological conditions or movement disorders.

The performance will be narrated, with introductions to the characters (opera singers), the instruments of the orchestra and our Children’s Choir. The performance will be British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted.

Grounds will open at 10.30am, allowing plenty of time to settle in, picnicking and exploring our interactive activities. The main performance is scheduled to begin at midday.
