The Grand Tour
In the 18th century The Grand Tour was a traditional rite of passage for young gentlemen (and later ladies) to complete their education, taking in many of the major cultural sights and cities of Europe.
Our programme takes you from England, across the channel to France, over the alps into the Austro-Hungarian Empire, south to Italy, taking in Venice, and then back home via the Mediterranean. Composers will include William Williams, Telemann, Vivaldi and Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre.
