In the first half, the ensemble also presents the first Royal Ode written by Henry Purcell for Charles II, Welcome, Vicegerent of the Mighty King, alongside music for the stage by Matthew Locke, whose 350th anniversary falls in 2027. Strings, recorders, lutes, organs and more form part of a rich palette of colours to illuminate a programme of some of the most vibrant and expressive music of the age.
This performance is part of the 2026–2027 St Marylebone Festival and is led by Luke Mitchell, who also conducted Venus and Adonis for New Chamber Opera Studio in 2022.

The Duke's Consort continues its delivery of English Restoration repertoire with a staging of John Blow's lavish Venus and Adonis, the first full surviving opera in English, with an augmented chorus and diverse band of instruments.
