The Duke's Consort

The Duke's Consort
The Duke's Consort is a collective of young performers passionate about repertoire at the end of the 17th century, and bringing it to life in performances that strive to replicate the practices of the time. Formed from collaborations at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of Oxford, it works flexibly from intimate chamber performances to upcoming concerts with some of the largest scale performances of its repertory in the UK. The 2025-2026 season includes a reconstruction of a French Christmas Liturgy with music by Charpentier, performances of instrumental works from operas by Lully and the lesser known French instrumental repertoire of the 18th century, Grand Motets by Lully with Orchestra and Choir, and situating the great Coronation Anthems for James II alongside theatrical and secular works by Blow, Locke and Purcell. In September 2026, The Duke's Consort begins its association with the St Marylebone Festival, having first appeared there performing several of the Brandenburg concertos, and its members often perform in Oxford, both alongside student choirs and in chamber performances, such as the recent conference on the Concert Spirituel with works by Clerambault and Pepusch. In 2026-2027, a residency at the St Marylebone Festival includes concerts of works by Purcell, Bach, Blow and Vivaldi.
