Cupid’s Ground Bass
Bellot Ensemble, BBC Radio 3's New Generation Baroque Ensemble, joins tenor Kieran White to explore the extremities of love in 17th-century Italy. Music by Cavalli, Falconieri, Cazzati, Kapsberger, Strozzi, Uccellini and Monteverdi moves between tenderness, longing, wit and virtuosity.

The programme brings together expressive arias, theatrical scenes and instrumental music. Bellot's own diminutions and arrangements illuminate the recurring ground-bass patterns of the period, revealing a musical world of extraordinary passion and invention.
