Jane Gordon

Described as playing with ‘glowing conviction’ (Financial Times) and a ‘ravishing tone and depth of timbre’ (The Independent), Jane Gordon is one of the UK's leading period instrument violinists. Her work centres on historically informed performance, encompassing orchestral leadership, directing from the violin, chamber music, concertos and solo recitals.

Jane is leader of La Nuova Musica, founded and directed by David Bates, and is in demand as a guest leader, having recently worked with Dunedin Consort, Arcangelo, English Baroque Soloists, Irish Baroque Orchestra and Casa da Música. She is also Artistic Director of the Hastings Chamber Music Festival.

In 2021, Jane released her debut solo album of the Fauré Sonatas with pianist Jan Rautio performing on an historical Erard piano for Resonus Classics. As violinist of the Rautio Piano Trio, she has released five critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut disc of Mozart Piano Trios, recorded on the fortepiano once owned by Christopher Hogwood, was hailed by The Observer as 'an impressive achievement' and received multiple five-star reviews. The trio is currently recording the complete Beethoven Piano Trio cycle on period instruments. The first releases have received five-star reviews in BBC Music Magazine, alongside glowing praise in Gramophone and Early Music Review.
