Florilegium Ensemble has announced significant changes to its artistic line-up, marking what it describes as a new chapter for one of the UK’s leading period-instrument ensembles.

The accomplished British-Polish violinist Magdalena Loth-Hill has been appointed as the new leader of Florilegium, succeeding Bojan Čičić. Loth-Hill is well known to the ensemble and its audiences. Her most recent appearance with the group was as solo violinist alongside soprano Rowan Pierce on the critically-acclaimed recording Tra le fiamme, released on Channel Classics.

The ensemble has also confirmed the arrival of violinist Gabi Jones as a new core member. Jones will be heard as guest leader on Florilegium’s forthcoming recording devoted to music by Georg Philipp Telemann, featuring the Double Concertos and the cantata Ino. The album, supported by a grant from Continuo Foundation, is scheduled for release in conjunction with the ensemble’s recital at Wigmore Hall on 16 March 2026.

Founded in the early 1990s, Florilegium Ensemble is internationally recognised for its historically informed performances of Baroque and early Classical repertoire. The group has built a substantial discography and maintains a regular presence at major concert halls and festivals in the UK and abroad.

Florilegium’s director (and newly-appointed Patron of Continuo Foundation) Ashley Solomon said: “The arrival of these two outstanding musicians signals an inspiring new phase for Florilegium. We look forward to sharing bold, imaginative programmes and fresh musical perspectives with audiences in the seasons ahead.’
