An hour of beautiful baroque lute music by two great German composers:

J S Bach's lute suite in G minor BWV 995 is an ingenious arrangement by the composer of his own wonderful cello suite in C minor.

The German lutenist Sylvius Leopld Weiss was Bach's nearly exact contemporary and friend. He composed over 600 pieces for the instrument, and is represented in this programme with a Fantasia, a Suite and a Chaconne.
