Voice

Medieval Women in Song

Medieval Women in Song
Voice is a dynamic female vocal trio celebrated for their exquisite harmonies and unique repertoire, which spans their own original arrangements, commissioned works, and rarely performed Early Music. During their 18 years together, they have built a dedicated international following and refined their distinctive, haunting sound.

As collaborators with composers, musicians, artists, and poets, Voice has devised and commissioned a number of sought-after projects, many of which bring together Early and Contemporary music in the same programme.

Victoria, Clemmie, and Emily first sang together as members of the Oxford Girls’ Choir before founding Voice in 2006. Their albums, Musical Harmony (2013) and Patterns of Love (2015), showcased their distinctive style, and in 2022, they released Hildegard Portraits on SOMM Recordings. They continue to tour Hildegard Transfigured, a multimedia collaboration with visual artist Innerstrings, bringing a fresh perspective and audience to medieval music.

In 2024, Voice performed at the launch of The British Library’s Medieval Women: In Their Own Words exhibition and were commissioned to create their current programme, Medieval Women in Song, exploring the rich musical heritage of that era.

Drawing on their diverse musical influences, their current programme creates a breath-taking vocal blend that has been described as “one voice”—a sound that is certain to enchant and inspire.
