Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment

Vivaldi For Many

Vivaldi For Many
Sparkling solo concertos and vibrant ‘concerti con molti strumenti’ give wings to the collective virtuosity of the OAE.

An all-Vivaldi programme that puts the whole ensemble in the spotlight to celebrate forty inspiring years of making music together. This evening unfolds as a finely curated sequence of concertos, crafted to highlight each instrumentalist. We go beyond Vivaldi’s most familiar works to discover a treasure trove of musical jewels, including L’estro armonico—the publication that set early 18th-century Europe alight.

Across more than 500 concertos, Vivaldi revels in a variety of unusual instrumental combinations. Building on foundations laid by Arcangelo Corelli and others, he brings instruments rarely heard as frontline soloists to centre stage, revealing a rich palette of colours and tones. Heard together, these works echo the interplay of distinctive instrumental voices that Bach so vividly explores in the Brandenburg Concertos.

Join us for a jamboree of virtuosity, where elegance and brilliance meet in every detail.
