Full Event Details
Considering today’s popularity of the baroque double concerto genre, it is strange to think that Vivaldi and Telemann were largely alone in composing such works. Vivaldi has left a legacy of around 50 examples which include works for violins, oboes, flutes, trumpets, horns, mandolins, cellos and organs as well as a handful of works written for 2 different instruments. Presented here are concertos for pairs of violins, cellos, flutes and oboes, as well as a zany ensemble concerto that takes the shape-shifting river god Proteus as its inspiration.
