The Sixteen Choir

The Sixteen at Christmas: Cambridge

The Sixteen at Christmas: Cambridge
Christmas is a time for families and old friends – for well-loved tunes and good cheer. But it’s also a time of mystery and wonder: of silent nights, and sounds that echo across centuries. We’re delighted to be back at Cadogan Hall this Yuletide for two nights of beauty, wonder and seasonal joy. From medieval carols to visionary modern masterpieces, it all takes its inspiration from the story at the heart of the season: a baby in a stable, surrounded by simply heavenly singing.

Programme:

Medievel: Alma redemptoris mater
Warlock: I saw a fair maiden
Aleotti: Facta est cum angelo
arr. Edward Higginbottom: Angels from the realms of glory
Palestrina: A solis ortu cardine
Traditional: Cherry Tree Carol
Lucy Walker: Ave virgo sanctissima
James Bassi: Quem pastores laudavere
Lucy Walker: The Angels’ Song
Gardner: When Christ was born of Mary free
Aleotti: Angelus ad pastores
Traditional (Basque): I saw a maiden
Bob Chilcott: The Shepherd’s Carol
Goss: See amid the winter’s snow
