Join Ensemble Augelletti, the BBC New Generation Baroque Ensemble, as they explore a mysterious publication from 1715. In the shadow of St. Pauls Cathedral, a book of chamber music by the intriguingly named ‘Mrs Philarmonica’ appeared in a music shop in 1715. This concert explores her music and speculates as to her identity by telling the stories of female musicians, publishers, and instrument makers who lived in the square around the churchyard. Mrs Philarmonica’s music will be played alongside music by Handel, Corelli, Vivaldi, and Purcell – favourites of the London audience she encountered.
