The Truth about Love

The programme incorporates a selection of memorable arias and ensembles from The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, Idomeneo and La clemenza di Tito, as well as less familiar highlights from La finta semplice and La finta giardiniera.
Adding a narrative flow to the evening, each musical item is preceded by a related poem – including works by Shakespeare, Yeats, Auden and John Fuller – providing fresh context, insight, humour and pathos, and shedding new light on Mozart's treatment of love in all its forms.
