Haydn Trumpet Concerto and Schubert 9

Titan of the historical trumpet, David Blackadder, joins The Hanover Band and conductor Leon Bosch to perform Haydn's much-loved Trumpet Concerto. David will be playing a replica of the keyed trumpets which were developed at the end of the 18th century and whose new capabilities inspired Haydn's virtuosic writing in the concerto, giving a rare chance to hear how the piece might have sounded to its first audiences.

Alongside the Haydn, The Hanover Band will perform Schubert's mighty Ninth Symphony, 'The Great C Major', and Beethoven's overture to Coriolanus, in a programme that explores both the ebullience and the emotional depths of the Band's core high-Classical repertoire.
