We raise the curtain on our Orlando Gibbons Festival with a performance by one of the UK's leading recorder ensembles. From Renaissance consort music to Baroque dance suites, their programme illuminates the soundworld of a transitional period in history - as the English crown passed from the Tudors to the Stuarts. A captivating figure bridging these eras, Orlando Gibbons also influenced the next generation of composers including his son Christopher who, in turn, taught Henry Purcell.
