Barokksolistene
The Alehouse Sessions
Bjarte Eike (director/violin)

It’s 1642 and Oliver Cromwell has shut down the theatres. Where to go for music, dancing and storytelling? The tavern! Let early music group Barokksolistene take you back in time with this award-winning show which smashes the traditional concert model to create an evening that is “innately theatrical, genre-bending and suffused with great musicianship” (The Strad).
Played entirely from memory, the concert mixes Purcell and Playford with shanties and folksongs and has been seen by sold-out audiences throughout Europe and the US. Dancers from the Norwegian group Mamelukk add a uniquely Nordic element to this popular show.
