Steven Devine

The only Crayfish in the Brook

The only Crayfish in the Brook
JS Bach and JL Krebs were two well-known keyboard composers in 18th-century Germany, with a wide range of published music for the harpsichord. The title of this programme is taken from Johann Nicholaus Forkel's biography of JS Bach, where he uses an entertaining play on the names of the two composers to place them together in the landscape of 18th-century German keyboard music: the name 'Krebs', meaning a crustacean of some kind, and 'Bach', meaning a small stream or brook.

Steven Devine is joined by Matthew Brown for Krebs' Concerto for Two Harpsichords.
