Stephanie Dyer

Renaissance Instruments Workshop

Explore Renaissance instrumental music with Welsh virtuoso trombonist Stephanie Dyer

Renaissance Instruments Workshop
Bring vocal and instrumental Renaissance works to life in this ensemble performance workshop for winds – cornetts, curtals, recorders, sackbuts and shawms – and string players, with continuo very welcome for those who can supply their own instruments.

Modern string, wind and brass instruments are also warmly invited, provided they are able to read concert-pitch notation and blend sensitively with the group. Develop articulation, tone and stylistic insight while exploring practical approaches to historical performance. Because of unsupervised breaks and interactions with adults, participants must be aged 16 or older to attend without parent supervision.

Music will be shared digitally in advance of the workshop for you to print at home or read on the device of your choice. Prebooking is therefore essential so that we have your contact details and can email you the link to the shared folder.

Pitch A=440. Please bring your own music stand and a packed lunch (local shops/cafes are approx. 1 mile away). Tea, coffee & biscuits will be provided; donations appreciated.

Stephanie will also perform her Sackbut Soliloquy programme on 18 January.
