El Parnaso Hyspano and Divertissements Chinois showcase for the first time a juxtaposition of baroque Jesuit music written in the missions of Latin America and China. We present this music in the most appropriate setting possible, the glorious London home of the Jesuits in Farm Street. As usual, our concert will proceed without interval and will be followed by a wine reception.

for Divertissements Chinois: Yeo Yat-Soo (harpsichord, director), Phillipa Hyde (soprano), William Summers (baroque flute/recorder), Diane Moore (baroque violin), Agnes Chin (guzheng).

Music will include works by Domenico Zipoli (1699-1726)and anonymous Indigenous composers trained in the Latin American missions by Zipoli and others; Chinese music transcibed by John Joseph Marie Amiot (1718-1793), a Jesuit working in China; movements from Les Sauvages Galant by Jean-Phillipe Rameau (1683-1764).
