Saints and Miracles

From the contemplative vision of Ero the monk and Saint Elizabeth’s Miracle of the Roses to English songs honouring the Virgin Mary and the extraordinary life of Joseph of Schönau, these tales reveal the medieval imagination at its most profound. Music from the Cantigas de Santa Maria, Machaut, Landini, Oswald von Wolkenstein, and the Buxheimer Orgelbuch accompanies stories that explore faith, transformation, and the intersection of the miraculous with human experience.
Doors open from 18:00, and the bar will be open to purchase refreshments.

Full Event Details
Miracle stories were ubiquitous throughout the Middle Ages, serving as morality tales that encouraged people to emulate the values embodied in the lives of saints. Poetic, often surprising, and richly varied, this programme presents four remarkable medieval miracle stories, each paired with music from across Europe.
