After the success of Monteverdi's Orfeo, another wonderful work is now being scheduled at St Mary's – this time by GF Handel: his Pastoral Ode L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato set to words by John Milton (sung in English).

Handel composed this work just one year before Messiah, when at the peak of his powers; it's a fabulous score full of variety and beautiful arias and choruses, with five soloists lined up to sing it.
