Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment

The Night Shift at The Water Rats

Featuring OAE's Principal Viola Max Mandel

The Night Shift at The Water Rats
It's not NOT Opera. The Night Shift returns with an evening of duos, trios and quartets for strings by Mozart. Oh, and some arrangements of some of his most famous opera arias.

Principal viola Max Mandel has brought together a setlist ranging from an early quartet, composed when he was 16, to his masterful Divertimento for string trio… and everything in between! In the mix will also be arrangements of some of his most famous arias, which may well leave you wondering, when isn't Mozart operatic?

The music will include movements from String Quartets Nos. 4, 14 and 15, the String Trio in E flat (K. 563), Eine kleine Nachtmusik and operatic sequences.

The Night Shift is a series of informal chamber music gigs – literally music for smaller rooms, in the home or other places where people socialise. They're a chance to hear the members of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment playing music that they're passionate about and bringing in a wide range of musical influences.

  • festival The Night Shift
  • date Mon, 28 Sep 2026
  • location The Water Rats, London WC1
  • time 8:00pm
  • ticket From £8
