The Night Shift at The George Tavern

The Night Shift at The George Tavern
A real end of year treat as the OAE presents Marin Marais' La Gamme, a 35-minute piece for violin, gamba and harpsichord in the form of a small opera. The very simple plot device of a rising and falling scale provides a stage for the remarkable virtuosity and harmonic invention that marks out Marais' music. The second set will include pieces by Rameau and Buxtehude.

The Night Shift is a series of informal chamber music gigs – literally music for smaller rooms, in the home or other places where people socialise. They're a chance to hear members of the OAE playing music that they're passionate about and bringing in a wide range of musical influences.

Performers:
Huw Daniel violin
Jonathan Manson viola da gamba
Steven Devine harpsichord
