Michał Gondko and Nigel North

Ophelia's Garden

English lute duets

Ophelia's Garden
We are delighted to welcome legendary lutenists Nigel North and Michał Gondko for this launch concert of their highly anticipated album of English lute duets for Deux-Elles. The programme features the music of John Dowland, William Byrd, and their contemporaries in new arrangements and reconstructions by Nigel North. The title piece of the album, Ophelia’s Garden, is a newly commissioned lute duet by Welsh composer Stephen Goss, based on Ophelia’s harrowing mad scene from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Unmeasured Chamber Concerts take place on the first Friday of every month and last for one hour, with a complimentary glass of organic wine from our local wine merchant, Substrata.
