First performed on Good Friday 1727, this is the more reflective of Bach’s Passions. The Matthew Passion is an emotive journey of Jesus’ final days. Written for two orchestras and two choirs, the power of the music is so immediate that regardless of one’s belief, the music has a lasting universal impact.
The performance starts at 4.30pm. There will be a break at 5.45pm, and the concert will restart at 7.30pm, finishing at c.9.15pm.
