In this special programme, together with local specialists from Leeds Baroque Orchestra, La Tirana will recreate the salon of Lady María Josefa de Borja Pimentel, the Duchess of Benavente, who was a Spanish Salonnière, famous as a patron of artists, writers and scientists and an important figure of the Spanish Age of Enlightenment.
You will hear string ensembles and a harpsichord concerto by lesser-known Spanish composers as well as a famous cello concerto and Musica Notturna della Strada di Madrid by Luigi Boccherini, the Italian cello virtuoso who transplanted to Spain and was inspired by its musical heritage.
