Full Event Details
The ancient Salt Road between Lüneburg and Lübeck, walked by Bach on his way to meet Buxtehude, has existed beyond memory. It was a vital artery for transporting the 'white gold' upon which the wealth of the region depended. This concert explores the idea of journeys real and imagined with music by Bach, Buxtehude, Brade, Schütz, Walter and Isaac. Woven into this are readings by Horatio Clare from his book Something of his Art, written after Horatio was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 to walk the entirety of Bach's original route. The concert includes the premiere of a new work by Silas Wollston entitled 'White Gold'.
