Hugh Cutting | Refound Ensemble

Morpheus

hugh cutting headshot on a green background
'One of the most exciting young singers this country has produced in years' (MusicOMH), countertenor Hugh Cutting brings his Refound Ensemble to Beverley for ‘Morpheus’, an exploration of songs of the night.

Nocturnal dreams and encounters have inspired some of the greatest music ever written. This immersive evocation of night-time doesn’t only travel from Purcell and Cavalli to Britten, Howells and Schubert; it also reaches into folk, cabaret, and even Don McLean’s Vincent (Starry, starry night) – resonances of human experience through the ages.

From viols to vibraphone, clarinet to celeste, this is a magical, mystical soundworld, starring the 2025 International Opera Awards Rising Star Award winner, whose performances have been acclaimed worldwide.
