With period instruments, gut strings and historical bows to support their fearless pursuit of artistic truth, the Chiaroscuro and Consone Quartets have brought fresh sounds and spirit to the performance of Classical and early Romantic chamber music. They join forces this evening for what promises to be a revelatory encounter, unleashed in two Octets, the first created in 1849 by Mendelssohn's friend and colleague, the Danish composer Niels Gade.
