Across the Sea: Iberian and Italian Gems of the Renaissance

Across the Sea: Iberian and Italian Gems of the Renaissance
An exploratory journey of sacred and secular music by some of the finest composers of Renaissance Europe, with The English Wind Consort.

Political upheaval, philosophical turbulence, and scientific innovation, all made the European Renaissance an era of fantastical ideas; resulting in some of the greatest inventions, music, and art in Western History. In this programme, we will take you on an exciting and uplifting journey back in time, exploring the sounds, styles, and innovations of Iberian and Italian composition. The English Wind Consort intersperses sacred and secular music, performed on a fascinating and kaleidoscopic range of wind instruments from 16th- and 17th-century Europe.
