Duo Trobairitz

The Medieval Femme Fatale

Songs by female troubadours and trouvères

The Medieval Femme Fatale
Duo Trobairitz (soprano Faye Newton and vielle player Hazel Brooks) present songs by female troubadours and trouvères from 12th and 13th century France, including Beatriz de Dia, the Duchess of Loraine and Blanche de Castile, Queen of France.

Chansons of love, desire and marital discontent are interspersed with readings from leading ladies of the time who were important musical patrons, as well as lively fiddle dances.

'Duo Trobairitz re-creates the sound world and the artistic idiom with sufficient authority that, were the original creators of this music to come back and hear these performances, they would have stamped their feet in approval.' - International Record Review
