Dowland's Foundry
Four-voice ayres from Dowland's third and fourth songbooks

In this concert the ensemble Dowland's Foundry explores his mature works, with songs that seem to commemorate the old Queen Elizabeth I in the year of her death (1603) from the Third Book of Ayres, and some lively theatre songs, through to his last great collection, A Pilgrim's Solace (1612), in which an older man's life experience and spiritual maturity expresses itself in songs of timeless profundity (1612).
