Full Event Details
Led by David Hatcher from the Linarol Consort, this workshop explores music from the songbooks of Margaret of Austria, regent of the Netherlands at the beginning of the 16th century and one of the wealthiest and most important women of her age. She was a great patron of the arts and many of the greatest composers of the Renaissance worked at her court or contributed to her collections of music. Two songbooks and a volume of dance music survive from her personal collection, and it is from these that the workshop explores this rich heritage of early Renaissance treasures.
Viols, recorders, voices, cornetts & sackbuts, rebecs, harps and all manner of quiet early 16th-century instruments are welcome. Pitch 440.
