This was a period of vibrant transformation: London’s musical life was being invigorated by new influences, France stood at the height of its artistic and cultural splendour, and the Low Countries flourished as a global mercantile power. Yet, across these diverse centres, a unifying thread emerges — the profound and enduring influence of Italy.
