Rinaldo Alessandrini

Concerto Italiano

a man peering from behind an ornage door in moody lighting
Since harpsichordist Rinaldo Alessandrini founded Concerto Italiano 40 years ago the ensemble has become a byword for sensational performances of the music of Monteverdi. Regular appearances in the world’s leading venues and its many award-winning recordings have made its interpretations of the great Italian Baroque composers indispensable. We are honoured to present this distinguished ensemble in a superb programme dominated by two Venetian composers: Monteverdi, whose stunning 7th Book of Madrigals is full of daring innovation and emotional extremes; and the much less well-known but extraordinary music of the phenomenally talented Barbara Strozzi.
