Full Event Details
Orlando Gibbons, one of the most celebrated English composers, died 400 years ago this year in 1625. He led an extraordinary life, from working at the Chapel Royal, to contributing pieces to the first ever publication of keyboard music, to being organist at Westminster Abbey. He wrote some of the best music in the repertoire for viol consort, and lots of beautiful sacred and secular vocal music. In this programme we celebrate all of it, with instrumental gems, sacred pieces, and some madrigals.
