A Musical Menagerie

A nature-inspired concert of music for viols and voices... Chelys Consort of Viols join forces with the vocal duo Fair Oriana introduce you to the many animals in their menagerie, from the shepherdess Phyllis with her flock of sheep, a frog and mouse who get married, a flying Pegasus and a lapdog who plays a dangerous game as the favourite of Queen Elizabeth I. Not to mention Three Ravens contemplating a rather grisly breakfast, and a dancing baboon…! Come on a guided tour of the various animal enclosures with music by Byrd, Dowland, Dering, Marenzio and Weelkes.
