'Borrowed'

An Evening of Baroque Chamber Music at Leighton House

Michael Form (recorder)

'Borrowed'
To open the Kensington and Chelsea Music Society's 2026-27 season, an evening of baroque chamber music entitled ‘Borrowed’. At its heart are two solos: the Flute Partita in a harpsichord transcription and the French Suite No. 2 in a recorder transcription. These works are framed by pieces for recorder and cembalo obligato. Telemann and Bach had a close personal relationship, as Telemann was CPE Bach’s godfather. On the other hand, the relationship between Bach and Scheibe was all but friendly: Scheibe was a harsh critic of Bach’s style.

Programme
Georg Philipp Telemann Concerto III in A Major, TWV 34
Johann Sebastian Bach (transcribed by Nathaniel Mander) Partita in D Minor, after BWV 1013
Johann Sebastian Bach Sonata in F Major after Organ Trio Sonata No. 5, BWV 529
— interval —
Johann Sebastian Bach (transcribed by Michael Form) French Suite No. 3 in F Minor, after BWV 814
Johann Adolf Scheibe Sonata Seconda in B Minor, Op. 1

Performers
Michael Form
recorder
Nathaniel Mander
