Les Siècles

Berlioz’s ‘The Damnation of Faust’

Berlioz’s ‘The Damnation of Faust’
Berlioz’s ‘Dramatic Legend’ The Damnation of Faust is an operatic thrill-ride, a tour de force for orchestra, chorus and soloists that throws all of music’s capacity at one simple question: what is the price of the human soul? A story of heaven and hell, of demons and angels is best staged in sound and imagination – too cinematic for the confines of the stage. Jakob Lehmann and the period musicians of Les Siècles bring it to life in a concert performance with an international cast of soloists, including American tenor John Osborn in the title-role, Gerald Finley and Véronique Gens.
