Alison Kinder

Workshop for Instruments and Voices – the Serpent and the Dragon

Workshop for Instruments and Voices – the Serpent and the Dragon
Led by Alison Kinder from the Chelys Consort of Viols, a sneak preview of the reptile house in Chelys and Fair Oriana’s menagerie from this evening’s concert.

Ruggiero Giovannelli (1560–1625) Estote fortes in bello
(Be valiant in war and fight the ancient serpent, and you shall enter the everlasting kingdom. Alleluia.)

Richard Dering (c1580–1630) Factum est silentium
(There was silence in heaven When the dragon fought with the Archangel Michael. The voice of thousands of thousands was heard saying: Salvation, honour and power be to almighty God. Thousands of thousands ministered to him and ten hundreds of thousands stood before him.)

If there’s time, we might also visit the insect hotel to meet a singing cricket!

All voices and instruments (strings, recorders, brass, double reeds) are welcome. Pitch A=440
