Noodle Music

During the pandemic, they created an extensive collection of lullabies and night music, drawing on historical and folk traditions from across Europe and beyond. In 2024, a selection of this repertoire was recorded with colleagues from Barokksolistene. That same year, Naomi was selected as an Independent Creator for Yoto, the retro children’s audio player. Their two-part album, Lullabies from around Europe and Lullabies from around the World, has since reached over 1,800 families worldwide. Listener responses have been deeply affirming, with one family writing: “The album is absolutely stunning… We have fallen in love with the project. It hasn’t left the Yoto since it was put on.”
Alongside their lullaby project, Noodle Music is developing new releases including Dance Tunes from around Europe and Beloved Swedish Songs for Children by Alice Tegnér. Future plans include releasing their music across all streaming platforms, as well as on CD, vinyl, and illustrated books.
Drawing on their Scottish, Swiss-German, French, and Swedish roots, Noodle Music has a strong international flavour, featuring multiple languages and poetry from diverse cultures. Their repertoire is rooted in baroque music, including works by Telemann, J.C. Bach, Charpentier, and Händel, alongside deep explorations of historical folk song traditions. They also draw inspiration from composers such as Bartók and Warlock, whose engagement with folk music brings stylistic contrast, and they create their own musical settings of texts by writers including Goethe, Isabelle Pagan, and Shakespeare.
In 2025, Noodle Music was selected from over 500 applicants for the Britten Pears Arts Residency Programme, where they developed the lullaby album into a family concert show to great acclaim. Passionate about bringing this music to families in a wide range of settings, they are currently planning an Autumn 2026 tour, including shows at Brighton Early Music Festival.
Noodle Music’s mission is to bring baroque and early-inspired music to audiences in a relaxed, inclusive environment, with a folksy, improvised feel that offers a soothing, nourishing, and welcoming experience for listeners of all ages.
Performers include:
Naomi Burrell - violin, vocals
Per Buhre - viola, vocals
Sergio Bucheli / Johan Löfving / Fredrick Bock - lute
Johannes Lundberg - double bass
Biography
Noodle Music grew out of a close musical bond between mother and daughter, Margareta and Naomi Burrell. Both are musicians and pedagogues in their own right, united by a deep love of music and movement and grounded in the Dalcroze Eurhythmics method.
