Navicella Ensemble

Navicella Ensemble is a London-based Early repertoire collective formed by musicians who met at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, united by a shared passion for the repertoire and a close friendship which enhances their intuitive, collaborative sound.

Engaging with Early music on a deeply expressive level, the ensemble focuses on storytelling. Working with text, Navicella takes guidance from the prosody of the sung language to shape the music, with the aim to bring its rhetorical and emotional richness to modern audiences through gesture and relatable narrative.

Dedicated to repertoire for voice and continuo, Navicella takes advantage of the wide variety of colours and timbres offered by its unique instrumentation made of Harpsichord, Cello, Harp, and Lutes to intertwine with the voice.

Together, Navicella Ensemble seeks to create performances that are intimate, vivid, and most importantly real. Júlia, Thomas, Rowena, Eleanor and Stefano want to share music through boundless enthusiasm - rooted in human connection and artistic curiosity.
