Their recordings have achieved great critical acclaim; their debut recording of Giovanni Stefano Carbonelli: Sonate da camera Nos. 1-6 was chosen as one of Presto Classical’s “Presto Recordings of the Year” for 2017 and in 2021 the recording of music by composers born on the Croatian coast in the 16th century titled Adriatic Voyage won another Presto Recording of the Year Award.
In 2022 they released the first ever complete recording of Johann Jakob Walther: Scherzi da Violino (supported by Continuo Foundation) and a Christmas instrumental album titled La Notte.
Most recently, in June 2025 they released Heinrich Biber: Violin sonatas - 1681 (supported by Continuo Foundation) to great critical acclaim. The album has been named Gramophone Magazine's Recording of the Month for July 2025. It was also Record of the Week on BBC Radio 3 Record Review, and reached No. 1 on the Apple Music Classical chart, where it remains in the Top 10.
Biography
Bojan Čičić originally founded The Illyria Consort to explore rare repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries from the Venetian Republic and the Habsburg Empire. The group was invited to perform at early music festivals in the UK, Belgium, France and Croatia.
