Green Dragon Guild of London

This combination of surviving medieval remnants and contemporary imagination reflects the heart of the Guild’s unique artistic vision.
It is an exciting take on medieval and modern music, primarily presenting evocative works from the 11th to 15th centuries alongside contemporary compositions that are medieval-inspired, brought to life through new creative possibilities flowing from early music scholarship and historically informed practice.
Directed by David Yardley (countertenor, medieval harp, composer), the Guild comprises acclaimed musicians with rare specialisation in medieval music. Alongside David, founding members are Juliette Primrose (vielle), Dr Leah Stuttard (medieval harps), Richard de Winter (bass, narration) and David de Winter (tenor).
At Guild performances, be immersed in an array of textures from a different sound world, from refined courtly songs to rowdy taverns to otherworldly music of spiritual reflection, conjuring many aspects of the vibrant, complex lives of medieval people and their fantasy descendants.
Curated with knowledge and passion, Guild performances encourage reflection not just on history but on its relevance as a source of solace and inspiration in modern life. The Guild performs primarily in stunning medieval and historic spaces in London, the UK and beyond.

Biography
Green Dragon Guild of London is named after Green Dragon Court, the ancient street in central London that winds around the surviving medieval corner of Southwark Cathedral. But since that time, many green dragons of contemporary fantasy have appeared too, like the Green Dragon Inn, the mythical Tolkien location where the quest to the Lonely Mountain begins.
