La Locura

La Locura
La Locura is an early music ensemble known for its bold and unexpected pairings of ancient, baroque, and contemporary song and dance music. Since their launch in 2024, they have performed internationally at venues including Handel & Hendrix House, St Clement Danes, and Festival de La Gente (France).

Following the success of their debut programme, Je suis la Folie, La Locura are developing two new programmes:
Nātīvitās: a festive programme that weaves together original arrangements of early music from the Mediterranean and the New World, featuring ancient Marian cantigas, Sephardic Hanukkah melodies, Spanish villancicos, and Neapolitan lullabies. The programme explores themes of the nativity and celebration across Christian, Jewish, Moorish Al-Andalus and folk traditions.

Invisible Threads: a meditative exploration of cyclical music and poetry, featuring a newly commissioned song cycle by composer Emma-Ruth Richards. This programme is generously supported by the Vaughan Williams Foundation and the Hinrichsen Foundation.

La Locura are Ana Beard Fernández (voice/violin/director), Louise Duggan (percussion/voice), Konstantinos Glynos (kanun), Iain Hall (cello & recorders), Matthew Jorysz (chamber organ/keyboards), and Oliver Wass (triple harp).
